Movement Advancement Project (MAP): 2014 LGBT Community Center Survey Report

Recently, Movement Advancement Project (MAP): http://lgbtmap.org/ released the 2014 LGBT Community Center Survey Report. Which TransparencyReporting.com will be revising thoroughly, and at the same time will be sharing any concerns that nee...d and should be addressed. I will be providing future updates as they may arise so please feel free to share any feedback. If you want to remain anonymous please send me an instant message.
I noticed there is a discrepancy on the main introduction of the report which states the following: “The L.A. LGBT Center (formerly the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center) opened its doors 45 years ago as the first lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) center in the United States.” (2014-lgbt-community-center-survey-report: page 4)
For clarification purposes, the LA LGBT Center didn’t have their doors open to the trans-community 45 years ago and definitely we were not welcome. The only restriction that the Center had was that if trans-women were seeking any information and not services since they were now tailored to our needs, we still needed to be dressed in male’s clothing before we could even enter the premises.

Two Sylmar sisters sought after woman dies from silicone injection in buttocks

Detectives were searching Wednesday for two Sylmar sisters who allegedly ran an illegal cosmetic fillers business that led to the death of a patient who received a silicone injection in her buttocks.
Guadalupe Viveros, 53, and Alejandra Viveros, 50, may have fled the country after Mayra Lissette Contreras, 22, of Pacoima died Friday after receiving the injection, police said.
An autopsy was pending Wednesday, said Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner's office. Initial reports indicated that Contreras died from respiratory distress.
The Viveros sisters were investigated last month by the Los Angeles Police Department after other patients complained that the fillers, typically injected in the face or the buttocks, made them ill.
The sisters were taken into custody June 21 for practicing medicine without a license, police said. They were held on $20,000 bail before being released.
The suspects are believed to have fled to Mexico and are thought to have a long list of clients in the Sylmar area, officials said. Alleged victims were asked to contact detectives at (818) 834-3115.

Suyima Torres, Miami Woman, Died After Receiving Butt-Enhancement Injections

Two months after a woman died after receiving butt-enhancement injections, police are ramping up their investigation of a West Miami-Dade strip mall beauty clinic.
Suyima Torres reportedly visited Cuerpos Health and Aesthetics in April for a $1,500 procedure in which an oily yellow substance was injected into each of her butt cheeks, according to court documents obtained by CBS4.
Weeks later, Torres underwent a second round of injections and soon thereafter felt dizzy, dying ten hours later, CBS4 reports.
Although her cause of death is still undetermined, Torres wouldn't be the first South Floridian to risk their life for a larger behind.
Although her cause of death is still undetermined, Torres wouldn't be the first South Floridian to risk their life for a larger behind.
The most notorious instance of botched butt injections was the 2011 "toxic tush" case in which a woman injected fix-a-flat into several clients' backsides, causing serious medical conditions and infections.
A year later, a Hialeah couple was arrested for performing unlicensed butt injections out of their house with a substance imported from Colombia.
Most recently, a West Palm Beach man was charged with unlicensed practice of health care causing serious bodily harm after he reportedly injected silicone into at least two people's buttocks in a motel room.
Despite the very public arrests and serious medical complications related to such procedures, there's a handful of such services currently advertised on South Florida's Craigslist.
A 2009 cover story by the Miami New Times revealed South Florida's sordid history with butt injections, calling it "the bargain basement of plastic surgery."
"People would come in and have no idea what they had been injected with," University of Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Seth R. Thaller told New Times. "It was an epidemic."

Peppelz Da Model found guilty for manslaughter for silicone buttocks injections....

http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/manslaughter-verdict-in-buttocks-injection-trial

Natasha Stewart, also known as Pebbelz Da Model, was found guilty of manslaughter for silicone buttocks injections that prosecutors say killed a woman in 2012.
JACKSON, Miss. — To hear Natasha Stewart tell it, she was just trying to help an insecure woman when she helped arrange for her to get silicone injections in her buttocks, shots that prosecutors say were deadly. A jury disagreed, convicting Stewart on Friday of culpable negligence manslaughter.
Stewart, of suburban Memphis, Tenn., was found guilty Friday in Jackson, Miss., in the death of 37-year-old Karima Gordon of Atlanta.
Authorities say Stewart, an adult entertainer also known as Pebbelz Da Model, took $200 for a referral to the alleged injector and falsely represented that the injector was a nurse.
Related: Illegal buttock injections kill and maim women
Stewart testified Friday that Gordon was insecure about her body and wanted help fixing previously botched buttocks enhancements. Stewart said she connected Gordon with the woman performing the injections to help her out, not for money, but she said Gordon insisted on paying her.
Stewart had been charged with "depraved-heart" murder, defined as a "callous disregard for human life" resulting in death, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. She also had been charged with conspiracy to commit depraved-heart murder.
Paul Brown, a friend of Stewart's who was in court throughout the trial, said he spoke to her after the conviction and that she expressed her condolences to the victim's family.
"She's very sorry that Karima died," Brown told The Associated Press. "She wants to give her care, comfort and condolences to the family of Karima Gordon for the loss of their daughter and sister."
Jurors decided to go with the option they had been given to convict Stewart of the lesser charge. They also found her guilty of conspiracy to commit culpable negligence manslaughter. She faces up to 20 years in prison for each charge. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
Stewart, wearing what appeared to be an orange wig, showed little emotion immediately after the verdict was read. She was found not guilty on the charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Stewart had testified that she thought the woman performing the injections at a Jackson house was indeed a registered nurse and had gotten the injections herself more than 20 times over seven years.
"She told me that she was an RN," Stewart testified.
But Patrick Beasley, a prosecutor with the Mississippi attorney general's office, said someone would have to be "dumb" not to know Garner wasn't a nurse when she used veterinary syringes and sealed the injection sites with cotton balls and glue.
Prosecutors say Gordon died from silicone embolism in her lungs about a week after getting the shots in March 2012.
Tracey Lynn Garner, the one suspected of administering the injections, is charged with depraved-heart murder in the deaths of Gordon and another woman, Marilyn Hale of Selma, Ala. She has pleaded not guilty. Her trial is scheduled for March.
Emails introduced Friday in Stewart's case showed that Gordon was a fan of Stewart and was persistent in asking for help to get buttocks injections beginning in 2010.
"I won't give up my mission to ultimately achieve a tastefully great butt enhancement," Gordon wrote in one of the messages.
Gordon's friend, Anglean Barber, testified Thursday that she and Gordon flew to New York to meet Stewart at a club in Queens where Stewart was hosting a party in February 2012 and that Stewart later referred them to Garner.
Barber said she and Gordon wanted the same kind of buttocks enhancement that Stewart had gotten with hopes of becoming models in the hip-hop industry.
Barber said she and Gordon drove to Garner's house in Jackson on March 16, 2012, and both planned to get the injections. Barber said she was unsettled by the appearance of Garner, who was a man before having gender reassignment surgery, and decided not to get the injections. Barber said Gordon got sick immediately after getting the shots.
A doctor testified Thursday that Gordon died in a Georgia hospital on March 24, 2012, of silicone embolism in her lungs.
During closing arguments, Stewart's attorney, Kevin Camp, said that the jury should find his client not guilty because "nobody knew that this situation was going to cause any imminent death."
Prosecutors, however, argued that Stewart charged money and lied when she told Gordon that the woman performing the injections was a registered nurse.

The "Dark Side" of Trans-pageants....

The "Dark Side" of trans-pageants that no one wants to discuss about Adulterated Injection Liquid Silicone (AILS). Just remember that when you see those beautiful trans-contestants that there will always be many more that were not so LUCKY! Like two of my friends who never made it to the event that particular night.

Trans-Leaders Let's Protect Our Youths!

As trans-leaders we need to start regulating all trans-women pageants that are susceptible to Adulterated Injection Liquid Silicone (AILS). Not everyone's body is the same, since we all have different DNA and sometimes there is a family his...tory of certain illnesses. Just because we see someone who used AILS and they appeared in some form okay or beautiful, that doesn't mean that the chemicals they used will have the same result for someone else. I know that this type of illegal activity is occurring within our own community more often then not. LET'S DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Where is our leadership for the trans-youth in this CRITICAL and CRUCIAL issue?

This is a very complex case that should've not been in the first place. Law enforcement officials are concerned that vital forensic evidence related to Hall’s death may have been overlooked or compromised. Their investigation is now focused on whether her demise should be ruled a homicide.

Demand transparency for Trans-Women Pageants

It is time that we regulate all those non-profit organizations who sponsor Trans-Women pageants, since they are indirectly responsible that many of our trans-youths are mislead. And end-up making the wrong choices, when it comes to Adultera...ted Injection Liquid Silicone. The Los Angeles County Health Department, has reports of several trans-women pageant participants who have fallen-ill to this horrific epidemic. As leaders, we should not dismiss those who have been victimized by those performing this illegal activity because Taxpayers end-up paying the medical bills.....Leadership comes first before Friendship in cases like the one of the Beloved Brenisha Hall who lost her battle to illegal silicone....

We DEMAND transparency on trans-government funding.....

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Honored The Susan J. Hyde Award for Longevity in the Movement to Bamby Salcedo. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? "Just my two-cents" The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and was misguided by whoever nominated Salcedo. What a waste of taxpayers funds and that is why we DEMAND transparency.

Tanya Amadore: Trans-Woman dead because of Adulterated Liquid Injection Silicone...

This is such a horrific event that Adulterated Liquid Injection Silicone took the life of such a beautiful trans-woman....RIP...Hope that by watching this episode, many trans-women who are still practicing this illegal activity will be educated and change their minds to no longer do it......
There will be a scheduling of Tanya Amadore by the Los Angeles County Coroner

January 20, 2014 8:00am
Channel 171: Discovery Fit & Health
Season 1, Episode 5: The Chain of Life and Death
10/29/2004...
Dr. G: Medical Examiner

According to Dr. G: "Tanya Amador a 28-year-old stripper collapses in her home and refuses to go to the hospital. Later, she is found dead in bed. Her brother revealed that the woman used to be a man, but recently had a sex change. Needle marks are found on her breasts, but no drugs are found in her system. Dr. G finds that silicone leaks from the puncture marks, but the woman had no breast implants. Had the woman been injecting her breasts with silicone, and did this somehow cause her death?"

Los Angeles County Transgender Pageants and SAMHSA federal funding....

As a independent transgender activist and a taxpayer: "Just my two-cents" Los Angeles Transgender Women pageants are predominantly held at nightclub venues where alcohol is consumed....And at the same time, those non-profit organizations sponsoring these events are currently receiving grant funds available through the Substance Abuse Treatment, and the Center for Mental Health Services (SAMHSA). Since the major areas for programs and initiatives covered by SAMHSA include, but are not limited to: substance abuse and mental health prevention, treatment, recovery, and related resources. It doesn't make any sense that if SAMHSA is funding these non-profit organizations to provide assistance for those in substance abuse recovery, that they would also be approving this type of scope-of-work......

Injectable fluid silicone- Human morbidity and mortality- 1975

Update: I recently found an abstract published by the Journal of the American Medical Association
( JAMA) dated October 20, 1975. Which states the following:

Injectable fluid silicone - Human morbidity and mortality.
JAMA. 1975 Oct 20;234(3):308-9.
Ellenbogen R, Rubin L.

Four patients who had received silicone injections had the following
complications: migration, hepatic disease manifested as granulomatous hepatitis
(previously undescribed, to our knowledge), hypopigmentation, and death. Silicone
should now be considered as a possible cause of hepatic granulomas in an
appropriate host.

How many transgender women have to DIE before we STOP promoting silicone injections?

http://www.advocate.com/health/health-news/2005/07/13/transgender-woman-dies-after-silicone-injections

How many transgender women have to DIE before we STOP promoting silicone injections? Since medical silicone is extremely expensive and hard to come-by, most of those persons promoting or injecting the so-called "silicone" is nothing but che...micals such as, Crisco oil, industrial-grade silicone intended for cars and airplanes, and superglue to seal the puncture left from the large syringe needle.

Does 6-months or 1-year fits the crime when someone is convicted of injecting silicone to transgender women, unless the person dies due to the silicone? Then the charges are for murder....Is that what we are really worth? Are we really that naïve not to have any value of our lives in the criminal justice system? It is not OKAY, to be promoting any type of silicone activity for fear of harming our transgender youths......

The "bad news" is that in Los Angeles County, anyone who speaks about this problem directly and/or indirectly are in fear of retaliation from those promoting silicone injections....And believe me, I have witnessed it first hand....

But the "good news" is that I've decided to make it my mission to ALERT the transgender women community of the horrific epidemic of silicone promotions that currently is killing our community....And also, at the same time will be delivering the message that anyone promoting and/or engaging in any type of illegal activity related to silicone injections should be held accountable.....Furthermore, the criminal penalties are extremely lenient and do not fit the crime......

Warning about silicone injections....

Warning: It is not only me saying this, but a clinical literature indicated that industrial grade silicone injected into the body may cause medical complications, such as respiratory embolism, infections, scleroderma, toxic shock syndrome, ...granuloma, neuropathy, lymphadenopathy, rheumatic symptoms, severe autoimmune and connective tissue disorders, SEVERE MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS, and death. So with all that we know, and the medical research that has to been done....Why do we continue to Glamorize and/or Glorify when we see a transgender woman whose physical appearance is overly exaggerated......In that case, when a transgender youth sees that we as LEADERS/ROLE MODELS are glamorizing and/or glorifying those voluptuous feminine figures, they will do the same.....Where is the concept of "Aging Gracefully"? Or is it, that for transgender women we don't see ourselves living the "Golden Years" and therefore we are just a few that'll reach 60+? I need assistance in finding the "logic" to all of this if there is any, because I've witnessed a huge percentage of 3-decades of the transgender movement vanish before my very own eyes.....I LOVE CARMEN CARRERA & LAVERN COX FOR SETTING A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR OUR TRANS-YOUTHS......

Transgender women are ignored when filing a complaint/grievance....

Why is that in a vast majority of cases when a trans-person filing a formal complaint/grievance against an agency, goes on 'deaf-ears'? Are we that oblivious or we just don't care unless is something that we choose not to get involved.... F...or example, in the case of "Honoring Alexis Rivera's Legacy". Or when trans-women file grievances with an agency for unethical behaviors (injecting silicone to trans-clients or engaging in prostitution) by one of their trans-employees. Are we really putting Friendship before Leadership?.... Another example will be, as many of you already know that many role-models/leaders are promoting themselves on any website including but not limited to Facebook (racy photos of themselves). But the irony of this unethical behavior is reflecting on the trans-clients that they represent and many of them will follow in their footsteps....Therefore, if that trans-youth who is posting racy photos of themselves on Facebook, then the chances of them being hired are close to ZERO! Because employers will research any applicants before hiring them...I wish that all those who work directly and/or directly with the trans-community don't just look the other way.....Please be honest to yourselves and loyal to our trans-community......

How many NON-HIV transgender women are there?

Do we know how many NON-HIV transgender women are there? Allow me to share this scenario: two transgender women requesting emergency shelter at the same time at a homeless shelter, and one is HIV Positive and the other one is not, the one who is HIV would receive shelter right away. And the one who is NON-HIV would be put on a waiting list.......Are we sending the wrong message? Are we telling the... NON-HIV transgender woman to go and get infected so that she can receive shelter and not have to wait on the list?

"Just my two-cents"...Since HIV/AIDS epidemic, I've lost many of my closest friends to this horrific epidemic....But, at this point I feel that NON-HIV transgender women are totally neglected and ignored by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Department of Human Health Services.. Fortunately, many community based organizations have done an amazing job with this cause. Apparently, HIV/AIDS being a high priority for several years that now with medical treatment a person who is infected with the disease can live a lengthy life. After sharing this scenario with several sources, we have come to the conclusions that its so convenient to receive services such as, government housing, medical treatment, food, and other benefits when a person is HIV. On the other hand, a NON-HIV transgender woman wouldn't receive no services despite of their dire need...This is something very serious that we are sending the WRONG message to those NON-HIV transgender women.......

The "Dark Side" of trying to look pretty/feminine...Here is Los Angeles as we speak, silicone parties are extremely rampant especially months and sometimes weeks prior to any Trans-Pageant....Many trans-women are fearful of speaking up due to retaliation by those engaging in this type of illegal activity. During the past 15-years, there have been more then 20 trans-women (no exact number) whom lost their lives to health complications....As taxpayers, we need to put a STOP to all this nonsense and make sure to hold accountable every single person that is promoting this type of illegal activity.....

The "Dark Side" of Trans-Pageants in Los Angeles

From left, Miss New York, Miss Oklahoma, Miss Wyoming, Miss West Virginia, Miss Tennessee and Miss California pose for the cameras after the Miss Queen USA pageant at the Circus Disco in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Queen USA calls itself "the premier transgender beauty pageant in the United States."

Transparencyreporting recently emailed both Kate and Laura from the Los Angeles Times, about some concerns regarding their two articles...Since I found it to be "ironic" that they both wrote the articles on two diffe...rent dates, but failed to make the connection.

As you read my email below, it is clear that there is indeed a "DARK SIDE" to transgender beauty pageants that most contestants are blind-sided in winning the CROWN and TITLE! But at what cost? Do you know that there are no health insurances that'll medically cover the removal of silicone injected? Do you know who pays for a person administered in the emergency room for severe health complications due to silicone? Of course, the taxpayers like you and myself pay the bill.......Therefore, as taxpayers we have the right to demand that any transgender pageant needs to be regulated and that organizers need to be held accountable for any contestant in need of medical care (due to silicone injections) 3 months prior and 1 year after the event......

"Feminism in an unlikely place — a transgender beauty pageant"
Ranking women on their looks seems like a step back for feminism. But for Los Angeles' transgender community, pageants can be a sign of progress.

"As demand for illegal silicone injections grows, so do deaths"
People seeking bigger buttocks often end up at illegal 'pumping parties' with unsanitary – and sometimes fatal – injections of industrial-grade silicone.

Emailed to:
Dear Kate and Laura,

What I find interesting about these two articles that were published by the Los Angeles Times, is that the "dots" were never connected...What I mean by that, is that "Silicone Parties" are quite predominant within the "Transgender Pageants" here is Los Angeles.... There is a "DARK SIDE" that is never out in the open due to fear of compromising the pageant organizer's integrity.

Many of the transgender contestants go to the extreme of altering their body images to the point of seeking those silicone parties. Which are organized within the transgender community and its a "hush-hush" kind of thing. But in reality, many of them end up in emergency rooms with health complications related to their body rejecting foreign chemicals that are considered illegal....

As a transgender woman of color, and someone who has been at the fore-front of transgender rights, since 1970. It would be important that if someone is doing a report/article to assure that the story in non-evasive to the main issue which is transgender beauty pageant contestants risking their lives....

As we already know, that ObamaCare is the law of the United States. But also, many transgender women doesn't have access to healthcare due to their pre-existing conditions. So if they develop health complications due to the silicones more likely than not it would be challenging that they would find a doctor who would accept to treat them.... And that, is a major concern not only for taxpayers but also for the well-being of the transgender community......

The "Dark Side" of Los Angeles Transgender Pageants is the underground black-market of Silicone.

I am hoping that as journalist, you'll take up the task and follow-up with my email

Enough is Enough! Stop the waste of government funding for the trans-community.....

FBF: I am preparing a letter addressed to several government agencies that provide government funding for trans-programs, including but not limited our public officials. It is important that they acknowledge that we as trans-constituents deserve respect and dignity when someone is representing us. Please send me a private message with any feedback that will assist in following-through with this important dilemma. I am hoping that this type of unethical behavior is not just swept under the carpet, since there is a history where the general LGB communities just DON'T CARE what happens to our trans-community....Enough is enough, as a taxpayer this type of behavior should not be receiving any government funding....

Children's Hospital Los Angeles should not condone this type of inappropriate behavior from their employees....Especially, if they are on the "clock", because I find this to be so unethical since they do receive transgender government funding to provide "decent" services to trans youths......

How serious are you with the work that you do? I believe in order to promote role models within any community, those leaders need to set values and standards for those that look up t...o us.... In this case, if a transgender youth reflects their behavior based on what their role models are doing as in most cases this would definitely be considered "sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior, etc. And could have severe consequences for those transgender youth whether its in the workplace, a public business, or any other public venue....This type of inappropriate behavior is considered by all means to be illegal according to the law. ..."Just my two cents" as a transgender women of color who has been part of the movement almost 43 years since Stonewall. Role models need to be more serious of representing our transgender community....There are so many other transgender people who have broken-ground in society and continue doing amazing work...
